Crispness in the air. Scent of wood smoke. Trees shading to the red end of the spectrum. Wearing delicious cashmere and wool and silk handknits. Coming home to a warm home, a purring cat and knitting.

I love autumn so, so much.

First up is Persephone. This is an unusually shaped shawl available on Ravelry for sale. Here you can see the shape (and also my newly expanded blocking arrangement!)

The shape makes it really easy to wear - it stays draped around your shoulders nicely.

The yarn is a light 50% wool 50% silk blend from Needle Food in NZ. Sadly, while the two skeins looked alike, I discovered that the second one was a wee bit lighter. It's quite noticeable, although not so much when I'm wearing it. The yarn was a dream to work with.

Boo!

I may make this pattern again, but not with the same edging. See all those little loops around the edge? Every single one of those loops is a four-row repeat knitted onto the main body of the shawl. Hundreds and hundreds of tiny little rows. Oh, it drove me nuts. I'll definitely do another edging if I do this one again.

Here's my second one: Abrazo.

Not very happy with this one - as you can see, the top rolls like a bugger. It was blocked before I got my blocking board arrangement so perhaps I'll just reblock it properly. The yarn is Starry by Dream in Color - you can't see in the photo, but it has tiny flecks of real silver in it. This is definitely more a summer wrap and the pattern was a real impulse buy, but a very quick knit and I might make a few more.

Those are absolutely beautiful! I ran right over to Ravelry and bought Persephone. Now I just need make time to knit!

I also just bought the blocking mats; now I need to get some blocking rods. Do you like how the mats work?
