I've tried to make a post for the past few days and my heart just hasn't been in it. Adding to that, Sunday was a national day of mourning for the first anniversary of Black Saturday and there were no words.
With personal stuff, I'm very conscious at the moment that my attitude is affecting my mood. Improving the former helps with the latter. So here's a roundup of Good Stuff.
1. Connie Willis' new book, Blackout, comes out this week... at least overseas. I have ordered mine from the Book Depository, where with free shipping it cost half what it would to buy here.
2. My Merlin s2 part 2 DVDs are on the way, and are even coming Royal Mail, which is much faster than the postal service Amazon.co.uk use when the stuff comes from continental Europe. Huzzah. I might even have them for this weekend, fingers crossed.
3. This week's (well, last week's now) This American Life podcast was a repeat of one of the most fascinating episodes ever, 'The House on Loon Lake'. If you have amateur detective instincts, or love history-as-lived, you will LOVE this episode. Still free for download, always free to listen online.
4. I am in love with the new Hammamelis shawl pattern from Through the Loops. I'm now having trouble deciding which of my skeins of "special" sock yarn to make it in.
