You guys, you guys. I am so happy with my latest creation. This is Aestlight:

How awesome is this shawl? VERY AWESOME. Here she is being modelled by the camelia hedge:

And now modelled by the hibiscus. This is probably the most true to colour:

The pattern is Aestlight by Gudrun Johnston. It was a little bit challenging, just because it used a few techniques which I technically know how to do but usually choose not to do, like knitting edging on to the shawl edge. The yarn is Malabrigo Sock in 'Tiziano Red'.
She's not perfect. There's a wee bit of awkwardness where I bound off the last stitch, and I can never be bothered being too exact with pinning the points out when I block. But she's lovely. I am so happy with her.
Oh, and here's how the leftover sock yarn mitred square blanket is going:

I took
verylisa's advice and began weaving in the ends as I knit. This still leaves ends to sew in, but not nearly as many. Still enjoying it a lot. At this rate it'll be ready to use by the time winter rolls in!

I'm loving those diagonal lines on the blanket, it's all come together beautifully.

I once tried a sock leftovers blanket, and made it partway through one square and thought "fuck this, I'm making baby socks." (Which is what I usually do.) I, uh, am a product knitter. I need immediate results. ;->

You are that awesome!
