So let's try and get outside aged care and work crap for a bit.
The Jill Meagher case has shaken me up, as it has so much of Melbourne. If only the momentum can be built upon to catalyse some genuine change.
I was sad to see Michael O'Hare had died. I didn't see the first season of B5 the first time round, so I was used to Sheridan and really didn't feel especially warm towards Sinclair when I first watched his episodes. But on the last watch-through I came to appreciate his subtle performance much more, especially when it was followed by the character we affectionately call "Johnny Boom Boom Nuke 'em Sheridan".
We bought the super-revampled blu-rays of ST:TNG. Worth it, guys. SO WORTH IT.
Rohan is in the midst of watching every TV show in his DVD collection in chronological order. We're now in the 1970s and partway through the original Survivors. I've seen some of it before but not all of it. I can see now why Rohan was annoyed with the remake. The 1970s one is focused on the struggle to survive in the face of "natural" consequences of the genetically engineered plague - learning how to farm and live without electricity, coping with dwindling resources, and being under attack from other small bands of survivors - whereas the 2008 remake seemed very conspiracy-theory-focused. I suppose a bunch of people trying to remake a community and learn the simple life isn't interesting enough for a modern audience - although I personally find it fascinating which is one of the reasons I enjoyed the first half-season of Lost so much more than the later seasons.
Coincidence: Tanya Ronder, who played the little girl Lizzie in the original Survivors, grew up to write the stage adaptation of Vernon God Little which was Colin Morgan's big theatrical debut. Small world.
Speaking of which, I am looking forward to Merlin beginning again next week!
