There were chainsaws going in our street at midnight last night, for about an hour; I'm guessing it was the SES trying to remove damaged branches before they fell and did some damage.

It sounds as if we got off lightly though. They cancelled the races, the footy and the Moomba festival; evacuated the aquarium, the National Gallery and the Ian Potter Centre at Fed Square; evacuated Chadstone and the Jam Factory; closed the Domain tunnel; and closed down Southern Cross station after part of the roof collapsed. Meanwhile, bits of Queensland that have been dry drought-ridden places for years are completely underwater.

It's a funny old climate-changey world.
