vanessarama: (merlin fightyboys)
Some kid around here has got himself a motorised scooter and has spent every afternoon and evening this week buzzing up and down the street and round all the roundabouts, sounding like a giant mozzie. I want to go out and spray him with Mortein.

Colin Hay was on the 7 PM Project the other night. I have a soft spot for Mr Hay, have had for years. When I was a teenager our high school put on a rock musical called 'Riff Raff' which was written by Colin Hay and other Men at Work dudes in their pre-stardom days. I remember how excited we were when we got the tapes to guide us through the song performances, and it was Colin Hay singing on them with his distinctive Men at Work voice.

I played the barmaid in that production and was a backup singer. I can still sing most of the songs.

Anyhoo, on 7 PM Colin (who grew up in Scotland) was talking about being struck by the distances in Australia. "Here people call you up and ask you if you want to go to a party and you drive forty minutes to get there. In Scotland you don't drive forty minutes anywhere unless you're going on your holidays."

He also talked about the 'Down Under' lawsuit, which has caused me to go about humming the flute riff so Rohan can scream "COPYRIGHT!" at me. The whole lawsuit makes me roll my eyes.

I have nearly reading Connie Willis' Blackout and am now wanting some books on WW2 and the British home front, and am also sad that it'll be several months before we get the conclusion.
