Very very quick Merlin finale reaction...
... because I've just returned from family Christmas and we literally finished watching the episode about ten minutes before we had to dash out the door so I haven't had time to digest it properly, but in the meantime,
ABNJDXHSJKDSHJKFHSJFHSKLFDJKS BOYS BOYS BOYS. "WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME?" "JUST HOLD ME." And the cuddling and the forehead pressing and the crying and the everything everything everything. Colin and Bradley, Bradley and Colin, thank you for being perfect and absolutely rocking those roles.
I don't think they did a good job explaining it but you can see that Gwen will go on ruling a balanced Camelot, and will make magic legal, and without the Pendragon stigma she might even stay on the throne. I did like that she guessed. And that Gaius survived.
As for Arthur, I think we all knew he wasn't going to make it, although we hoped. But then, we know how the Arthurian legends end. This one was more hopeful than most retellings.
Rohan said "Why didn't he call the dragon earlier and get it to fly them to Avalon?" I don't think they did quite as good a job as they could've of reminding us of Kilgarrah's aged condition.
I am not sure how I feel about the last scene - I suppose they wanted to show that Merlin would still be around to help Arthur when he rose again but I'm not sure how well it worked. I *think* I liked it but I'll have to watch it again.
But BOYS. That was everything I wanted from a reveal scene. My heart is very full.
And of course there is bucketloads, BUCKETLOADS of fanfic that can arise out of this situation.
I so want to watch it again but since we'll be watching both parts round at Ben's tomorrow, I shall restrain myself.
I have love :)
