I used to never think the writers would possibly make Arthur figure it out on his own... but this episode very much gave me the impression that he has, or is in the process of it.
There's been a few things lately that have made me wonder, but this episode really cemented it for me. Arthur is definitely considering those things which are different about Merlin. I was intrigued by that little shot of him watching Merlin coming riding into the courtyard, too, since it seemed there wasn't much point to it unless it Meant Something.
I've seen a lot of negativity around season five, which I can understand--there is certainly much to criticize--but I also want to enjoy Merlin while it's still here!
Yes, I feel the same way. I mean, there is always enough to gripe about, but all in all the show is still thoroughly enjoyable. I've really enjoyed seasons 4 and 5 and while I know lots of people have been unhappy because we haven't had the Reveal yet, that's not a dealbreaker for me. Plus since we're not getting any more after this year, I intend to enjoy the hell out of the episodes we have left :)
