You would not think it would be this difficult to find a sock yarn with brown, red, and clear blue (or blue-grey). AND NOTHING ELSE.
See, I have revitalised my sock knitting mojo by deciding to work on some Merlin-themed socks. DON'T LAUGH. We all need to get our inspiration from somewhere. My first pair is working up nicely - a yarn in shades of red and the dragon-scale pattern, which I am calling my Pendragon socks. I have found awesome yarn for Morgana (and the colourway is even called 'Avalon') and for Nimueh and for Gwen and the Dragon and even Uther. I am already planning patterns for all of them. But do you think I can find yarn in the colours of Merlin's costume? No, I cannot.
My closest choices are Lorna's Laces Argyle (which has red, blue and blue-grey but no brown), or Pilgrim's Progress (which also includes green and is a bit too muted), Enchanted Knoll Farm Vardo (good red and blue, but no brown), Fleece Artist Labrador, (no red), Yarn Pirate Virgo (good blue and brown, but has green and no red).
